Ruger LCR Revolver 38 Special
Posted on | May 21, 2010 | 1 Comment
More citizens everyday are choosing to go heeled in our society, and lightweight revolvers are very popular among those who carry concealed. With the LCR, Ruger is aiming straight at the Smith & Wesson J-frame buyer, not with a copy of that design at all, but with a revolver that is a radical departure from conventional revolver design. The frame of the LCR is made up of two components. The cylinder frame is made of aluminum, which is a pretty conventional material for a lightweight pocket gun. However, the grip frame is made of a high-tech polymer, and extends below and to the rear of the cylinder frame, cradling that unit, and contains all of the fire control parts, such as the hammer, sear, and trigger, along with the necessary springs and pins to contain and provide fulcrums for those moving parts. The cylinder and internal parts are made of stainless steel. The polymer grip frame is not a stressed part. It comes out of the mold ready to assemble, and requires no hand fitting to the cylinder frame nor to the internal parts.
This small-framed, lightweight revolver consists of three main components: a polymer fire control housing, an aircraft quality aluminum monolithic frame, and an extensively fluted stainless steel cylinder.
Features:
** Long-fiber, glass-filled polymer fire control housing helps reduce recoil.
** Aircraft quality aluminum monolithic frame with a black synergistic hard coat provides sturdy, rigid support for the cylinder and barrel.
** Extensively fluted 400 series stainless steel cylinder is lightweight and compact, but strong and durable enough to handle .38 Special +P loads. It is treated with an advanced form of Ruger?s Target Grey® finish.
** Cylinder front latching system uses titanium components, optimized spring tension, and enhanced lockup geometry to ensure that the LCR’s cylinder stays locked in place during firing.
** Friction-reducing cam fire control system results in non-stacking, smooth trigger pull for this double-action-only revolver.
** Replaceable ramp front and fixed U-notch rear sights.
** Internal lock is hidden unobtrusively under the grip and does not interfere with the fire control mechanism in any way when disengaged.
** Hogue® Tamer grip helps reduce perceived recoil.

Headquartered in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Barrett is the world leader in large-caliber rifle design and manufacturing. Our products are used by civilian sport shooters, law enforcement agencies, the United States military and more than 50 American allied countries across the world.
Founded in 1982, Ronnie Barrett’s bold idea of a shoulder-fired .50 caliber rifle led to the now celebrated Model 82 rifle. Thousands of rifles later, and well-earned brand loyalty for the company that bears his name, he has become a hallmark in weapons manufacturing. Often quoted in the national media, he is a noted defender of the United States Constitution, particularly its Second Amendment.
Ronnie, his employees, and his rifles have accomplished much in the past 25 years. The United States Army named the Barrett M107 as one of the Top Ten Greatest Inventions of 2005. Ronnie’s success as a manufacturer and exporter has been recognized by area chambers of commerce. The National Industrial Defense Association honored him as Man of the Year with The Colonel George Chinn Award. In 2006, Ernst & Young recognized his success as one of the Southeast’s Entrepreneurs of the Year.

Glock

Glock handguns are common sidearms among law enforcement agencies and military organizations around the world. The popularity of Glock pistols can be attributed to a number of factors. They are very reliable, being able to function under extreme conditions and to fire a wide range of ammunition types. The simplicity of the Glock design contributes to this reliability, as it contains a relatively small number of components (nearly half as many as the typical handgun) making maintenance and repair easier.
The polymer frame makes them lighter than typical steel or aluminum-framed handguns, an attractive feature for police officers and civilians who carry firearms for extended periods of time. The trigger is the only operating element; all three pistol safeties are deactivated when the unique trigger is pulled, and automatically activated when it is released. Glock pistols have no manual safeties; the only external controls aside from the trigger itself are the slide release and magazine release. This adds to the simplicity of use and removes a potential source of error while operating the handgun under stress. It also provides excellent balance when the weapon is holding a full magazine. Gaston Glock’s company, headquartered in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria, was founded in 1963. The company originally produced curtain rods, but in the early 1970’s they diversified into manufacturing
plastic containers, field knives, plastic magazines,
ammunition belts, and practice hand grenades for the Austrian military. The first ever Glock pistol was introduced in 1980, way ahead of its time. The original Glock 17, was chambered in 9mm parabellum, with a capacity of 17 rounds. The Glock soon gained the reputation for never jamming, which caused the Austrian Army to be very impressed with the pistol. The army soon selected the Glock 17 to be their official side-arm. This remains true to this day.
